Meta launcht stand-alone KI App: Take this ChatGPT
It's a tight race for the top of the AI market. Every provider of an LLM wants its model to be used. Meta has now also made its own language model available as a stand-alone app.
The new Meta AI app, which is based on the Llama 4 AI model, is intended to become a central hub through which users can not only manage their personal AI interactions, but also interact with social media. This is done via a Discover feed function, which makes it possible to share and explore ideas, images and application examples from other users. This could be particularly helpful for people who are new to the world of AI, as they can find inspiration for using the technology.
One of the app's most outstanding features is the improved voice control. Meta has implemented full-duplex technology here, which enables more natural interaction by having the model respond directly in speech instead of reading out generated text. However, this function is only available to users in North America, Australia and New Zealand for the time being.
Unfortunately, it has to be said that the collection of personal data to improve the user experience at Meta has been repeatedly questioned in the past. Does this app offer a meaningful explanation of how user data is used, or is this left in the dark? It remains to be seen how Meta will handle the data. The biggest challenge will be to gain the trust of users and provide transparent information about how personal data is handled.
Nonetheless, I think innovations on the market are always very good for the end user. This drives development and innovation and gives more and more people access to this technology. How do you see it?
