X.AI is an American AI company founded in 2023 by Elon Musk. It works together with the social network X and develops its own large language models, comparable to those of providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Elon Musk has now presented the latest model from the AI forge: Grok3. According to him, this model can keep up with leading AI models from other providers and is even the "most intelligent model in the world". But what's behind it?
First of all, Grok3 is a reasoning model. This means that a prompt is first broken down into its individual parts and processed and the model "thinks" before it spits out its final answer. Other models with this capability are, for example, OpenAI's o1 or DeepSeek's R1. This makes Grok3 a serious competitor for the time being, but what about the actual performance?
X.AI tested the model using the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), among other things. Put simply, this is a very difficult math test. According to its own data, Grok3 outperformed other providers in both the 2024 and 2025 versions of the test. Voices criticize this model, especially in terms of transparency and accuracy of facts.
Whether it is the best model on the market or not, one thing is certain: the AI landscape is evolving rapidly and what is high-tech today may be completely outdated tomorrow.
